A Race Through Four Seasons

Here are just a few of the many photos I have taken of these two characters from Aesop's Fables. These sculptures, by Nancy Schön, were commissioned to honor the Boston Marathon which ends not to far from this location. The marathon has been a tradtion on Patriot's Day, a state holiday, since the early 1900's.

The tortoise and hare are a popular item with children and adults alike. It seems everyone wants to have the photo taken with them. As you can see their backs have been polished from everyone sitting on them.

Do you remember the outcome of the tortoise and hare marathon? I'll just take a nap to remember the rest of the story. I've got plenty of time.

Oh and good luck to all who are running today! Congratulations to the winners, finishers, and even if you made an attempt. You all deserve it. May the wind always be at your back!
