For the Love of Trees

A few weeks ago I posted a video entitled "For the Love of a Tree," about a neighborhood in Boston that rallied around a tree that was slated for removal.

This video, of a man who still logs his forest in Milan, New Hampshire, I see as a "companion" video to that one. This man still logs his forest using a horse. By using a horse, the work is slower. He is more careful to prune just those trees from his forest that may be crowding other trees. Using a horse also saves the ground from being torn up by machines.

There is something very "down to earth," about working with an animal to help make a living. The benefits to both man and horse are reciprocal.
