A Telescope for Hearing

The prompt this week shows three gentlemen using a telescope. Here in Massachusetts we have another type of telescope. This circa 1964 photo shows a radio telescope inside that giant "golf ball," located in Chelmsford Massachusetts.

This is MIT Haystack, named for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, that does the research here, and the hill that this contraption sits upon. The area once was used as a radar site for missile defense during the "cold war."

Come to find out radar sound waves can be used to to explore some of the deeper reaches of the universe.
