Puppy Wonders...

There's a lot to look at in these old postcard advertisements. It's rather cute looking at the expressions on the children's faces. Apparently the family dog was good at chasing rats away from the barnyard but this "puppy" loses his prey when the rat runs through the toe of a giant shoe!

Once upon a time shoes for children were quite an expense for the average family. I can remember my mother telling me that she would go barefoot all summer except for church and special occasions. Children surely could put a lot of wear and tear on their leather footwear.

The lower postcard is part of the series showing the victorious children and family dog capturing the rat because that old rat couldn't run through the "tipped" giant shoe. Even the barnyard animals are in on the search and celebration.

It's interesting to see the two separate ads from the rear of the postcards below. They are from different cobblers. Both boast that they can cut your children's show bill in half. by purchasing "tipped" shoes.

Nowadays they would have to boast they can cut your children's Air Jordan's bill in half which would be a huge savings! Hmmm puppy wonders...
